This is what the final drawing looks like, I will be taking some detail pictures of it soon.
Well, I am having some difficulty uploading video to blogger so, I will try again once I figure out how to upload the footage. In the mean time I have some photos from the project.

So, about three or four weeks ago I spent three hours a day for three days in point shoes, drawing a whale on the ceiling with my head, in a hand made costume and head dress. I used a small spy camera that I attached to the top of the headdress as a way to view my progress with the drawing. I'm finally getting around to updating my blog with some of the raw footage from the project. Let me know what you think.

Well tomorrow starts the three sets of live performances I will be doing for whale no.1. Hopefully all goes well and the spy camera on the top of the hat works for the next three days.

Here are some more sketches and images from Whale no. 1, I think these are better views of the costume in its entirety.

There is also a video that is related to the event and costumes that was taken by Steven Wygmans. I will include that as soon as I can, hopefully in the next few days. This may give you more insight to the event that took place spring 2009.

The purpose of this event was to experiment with costume making and to put on my first production. As many artists can relate, sometimes we come at art making from different perspectives and try stabbing at what it is that we really want to get at with our work. I look at this project as a way for me to find out if fashion design was what I wanted to do or if there was more there to be discovered. It turns out that there is more there for me to discover and my interest in art as performance and costume making runs deeper than just putting on a "fashion show". I am still experimenting with what it is that I am stabbing at and with any luck I will be able to get closer that with every project.

Okay, so here is some old stuff that I never got around to posting, but I believe that the work I am about to include has helped me develop a better body of work and because of that I think that it is work posting. I hope you can see the growth.

This is another sketch of the performance, this time from the front. As there will be a few different cameras pointed in various directions during the performance to capture different images of the work and the various movement involved.

This is a video clip is a sketch that I used to view the costume I am wearing and it's movement. This allows me to make corrections and edit the costume and my movement for the final performance.
The following images are some sketches of a performance that I will be doing next week. The title is Whale no.1 and the costume allows me to draw on the ceiling of the performance space with my head while standing on the tops of my toes.
